Welcome to my website, the studio of Robert Murphy. I am a sculptor living in the little town of Albion in southeast Idaho, and my passion is the sculpture of Native Americans of the Great Plains.
My journey out west began about as far east of the United States as you can get, at the University of Delaware. It was there that I was first exposed to the artwork of Frederic Remington, and fell in love with the beautiful art of the First Americans.
After graduating with degrees in art and animal science, I was lucky enough to land a job at The Franklin Mint, where I worked as a model maker and sculptor. After fourteen years there, I pursued a career as a free lance artist and, along with my family, moved to the quiet mountain town of Albion.
For the last twenty years, my family and I have lived here in Idaho, and I’ve followed the path of recreating historically accurate depictions of the People of the Plains in 3-dimensions. Thanks for taking the time to review my website, I hope that my work speaks for itself.
